The Rickert & Ringholz Travel-Practice Violin had a pretty good projection volume, but was not
very loud from the player perspective, which presented a marketing problem. We tested this instrument with at least 100 musicians. Insights from our design research and depth interviews helped in the development of both the Adventurer Travel Violin and Travel Master Pochette series of instruments, both of which are considerably narrower, but much more acoustically powerful than the original Travel-Practice Violin, but borrowing many design elements from it.
Despite its lack of punch, the Travel-Practice Violin was visually refined and a joy to play.
