This Neil Gow Pochette is as close to perfection as Don Rickert intends to refine the design. This design is in full production by our instrument fabrication partner, Fiddarci Lutherie in Helena, AL. To date, all of these go to music stores in Japan in significant numbers, complete with deluxe wooden cases. We guess that the Japanese do not operate on the economy-killing fear mentality that Americans seem to have adopted...Japan is having problems with its economy just like the U.S., just in case you have not checked. This instance of the Neil Gow Pochette sounds incredibly good, but you can judge for yourself by watching the YouTube Videos below.
Note that this instrument as an inset neck (i.e. semi-dovetailed) and we have gone to the signature Rickert & Ringholz scroll-less pegbox. The original 1780s instrument did not have a standard scroll either.
